The ISO 9001 is a comprehensive standard that covers each and every aspect of a business’s management system. It is therefore, considered vital to have ISO 9001 certification. In order for a company to get this certification, it has to pass through an assessment process. Only after going through this assessment process and passing it, the company would be able to announce itself as being ISO 9001 certified
It is extremely important that you make the following preparations before inviting an external assessor or appointing someone internally for conducting an assessment for ISO 9001 certification.
The ISO 9001 assessment process is divided into two stages. In the first stage, the assessor simply visits the premises and informs you about the requirements that you need to fulfil in order to gain the certification. The assessor is then going to prepare a checklist based on the requirements of the ISO 9001 for the second stage of assessment in which he/she will perform the audit and check whether your system conforms to the standard or not.
